Yet more personal data treated with complacency

So nine NHS trusts in England have admitted losing patient records.

This is yet another case of wholesale data loss by government services and a demonstration of the lack of care taken by the Government and it agencies with our data. At a time when data protection is suppose to be of paramount importance it just shows the complacency with which our personal details are treated.

This comes on the back of two earlier revelations involving Child Care Benefit Data and drivers details. It is another example of the incompetent way this Government acts.

While the Department of Health says patients have been told and there is no evidence data has fallen into the wrong hands, it is still very concerning for those involved. The Government has really got to get a grip and start to act as if they know what they are doing!

The Life of a Parliamentary Candidate!

Hi. Welcome to my new blog!

I hope to use this to keep you posted on what I am up to at the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the new South Basildon and East Thurrock Parliamentary Constituency.

South Basildon & East Thurrock is the new Parliamentary Constituency created following the recent parliamentary boundary review. It is made up of the wards of Corringham and Fobbing, East Tilbury, Stanford East and Corringham Town, Stanford-Le-Hope West and The Homesteads wards from Thurrock Council and Langdon Hills, Nethermayne, Pitsea North and Vange from Basildon Council.

It has a population of around 75,000 and around 45,000 houses.

It sees 3 wards joining the old Basildon Seat and will mean a change of Member of Parliament for many people.

The two Pitsea wards join the seat from the Billericay Constituency and East Tilbury from the Thurrock Constituency. These wards continue to be represented by their current Member of Parliament until the next election when they will be voting in the new seat.

I was selected as the candidate for the new seat just over a year ago and hope, that in time, I will be the first Conservative Member of Parliament for South Basildon and East Thurrock. It has been a really enjoyable and exciting year. I have met many thousands of people and attended my community events. I have heard first hand about the concerns and worries of the people of South Basildon and East Thurrock and hope that if I am fortunate enough to be elected as the Member of Parliament to be able to address those concerns as part of a new Conservative Government.

I will try and post regularly my thoughts on important local and national issues and hope that you will comment on what I have said.

Finally Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
